Turkey and Iraq said in a joint statement on the 8th they will continue cooperating to restore central government authority in Sinjar, Nineveh province, and to end the presence of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) there. The Turkish presidency said Turkey will progressively transfer its Bashika military base in Nineveh to the Iraqi government. The two countries agreed to establish a joint security coordination committee to verify and oversee the process of removing PKK forces from Sinjar.
