President Trump told Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu he wants Netanyahu to advance a Gaza peace roadmap regardless of who forms the next government, Axios reported citing two people. The roadmap envisages disarming Hamas, demilitarizing the Gaza Strip and transferring local governance to a new Palestinian technocratic administration. The plan has been shelved since Israel’s Oct. 27 election; the U.S. seeks to avoid the issue becoming a campaign flashpoint. The day after the call, peace committee member and former British prime minister Tony Blair visited Israel.
