Foreign media report that in an election handing Democrats an overwhelming victory, voter rejection of President Donald Trump was among the strongest rebukes of a U.S. president in decades. The result undermines Republican hopes that Trump had reshaped U.S. politics and assembled a new working-class/minority coalition. The defeat exposed cracks in the MAGA movement that underpinned his influence since 2016. Trump's response could shape the GOP's political fortunes over the next two years and influence the 2028 presidential succession.
