Insiders say Marvell (MRVL.O) CEO Matt Murphy and Lumentum CEO Michael Hurlston spoke with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang before announcing the roughly $103 billion merger. Hurlston told reporters early Monday NVIDIA’s reaction was very positive and said the deal would allow the firms to deliver a wider range of products to NVIDIA more quickly. The transaction is the second-largest tech M&A in history. Huang’s endorsement highlights NVIDIA’s influence in driving consolidation among key AI supply-chain suppliers; NVIDIA invested $2 billion each in Marvell and Lumentum earlier this year.
