Global auto production rose to 96.89 mln units in 2025, up 6% from 91.77 mln in 2024; China accounted for 35.4% of global production in 2025. Jan–Sep 2026 global vehicle sales totaled 72.52 mln units, up 3% YoY; September sales were 8.74 mln units, up 2% YoY and 12.4% MoM, signalling weak global market momentum. China’s share of the global auto market was 32% in Jan–Sep 2026. China’s share trend: ~30% in 2016–18, 29% in 2019, 32% in 2020–21, 33.5% in 2022, 33.8% in 2023, 34.2% in 2024 and 35.4% in 2025.
