Sarah Foster said the Fed did not raise rates today, but U.S. borrowing costs continue to climb. Mortgage rates have risen 37 bps since the Fed's September meeting and are more than one percentage point higher than at the start of the year. Freddie Mac's release tomorrow is expected to show mortgage rates above 7% for a sixth straight week — the longest run since end-2023.
