Apple (AAPL.O) plans to launch smart-home devices including doorbells, thermostats, smart deadbolt locks and security cameras, integrating with an upgraded HomePod mini and a new Apple TV set-top box, sources say. Products developed with LG Electronics will carry the LG brand, with LG responsible for manufacturing and product support. Apple expects to unveil the devices on Oct. 13. The second-party supplier arrangement lets Apple scale its smart-home ecosystem without assuming full production and support costs.
