China Meteorological Administration’s National Climate Center says equatorial central-eastern Pacific sea surface temperatures have warmed since September, with seasonal and dekadal SST indices exceeding +3.0°C for the first time on record. SSTs are expected to continue a volatile upward trend and peak around November at +3.2–3.5°C, constituting the strongest super El Niño in the observational record.
