Apple (AAPL.O) is developing a screenless health and fitness tracker similar to Whoop, sources say. The device is part of a retooling of Apple’s smartwatch product line and an exploration of new wearable technologies. Sources say the company has spent months researching the area and is building prototypes. The project has senior management backing but Apple has not decided whether to launch it. The initiative is in an early phase internally dubbed "technology investigation." If Apple decides to release the product, it is unlikely to ship before 2028.
