Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said in an interview on Sept 14 he will resign on Sept 27 to run as an ordinary citizen and campaign nationwide. On Sept 5 the Serbian Progressive Party's central committee nominated him as its parliamentary list leader and prime ministerial candidate, which he accepted. He signed a decree dissolving parliament on Sept 9 and set early parliamentary elections for Oct 25.
